Yes, Japan’s in Asia. But Japanese and Asian still aren’t the same thing.
Japanese people are also Asian, but all Asians aren’t Japanese. And the Japanese consider themselves Japanese first, Asian a distant second.
And, like I said earlier, there are many countries in Asia. You can’t call Indians or Vietnamese people Japanese. They’re simply not the same thing. The term Asian and Japanese are NOT interchangeable.
