oh, i so feel you, i just noticed that…
although the avatars allow for "fashionable" difference (vague ethnicity and scene/brand identification), they don’t allow for any boundary pushing difference (fatness, oldness, disabled-ness)….
I think it’s because it honestly probably never occurred to them that these are characteristics that people might want to proudly display.
ah, they are, like us all, trapped in the dominant discourse of representations…

I was checking back on some questions I had answered and was suprised to find quite a few avatars missing and replaced by gray, rectangular-shaped emoticons with open smiling mouths. It shocked me a bit. What was going on? The avatars returned to normal in a few moments.
Whenever that happens, press F5 (Refresh) and it should clear itself.
I see it everywhere and we’ll probably see a few in this question, avatars that are angry – wot up with that?
What kind of statement are people trying to make by walking around yahoo answers looking all angry and sht?
Most of them probably angry people so they make their avatars to show the same anger they feel.
I don’t think blacks as a group are stupid, but I think there is an inordinate number of stupid questions and answers coming from those using black avatars. What do you think?

Avatar is an upcoming 3-D science fiction epic film directed by James Cameron, due to be released on December 18, 2009 by 20th Century Fox. The film is Lightstorm Entertainment’s latest project, and Cameron’s first fictional film in 12 years, having last directed Titanic in 1997. With an estimated budget of $237 million, Avatar is currently the fourth most expensive film.
The storys protagonist, Jake Sully (Sam Worthington), is a former Marine who was wounded and paralyzed from the waist down in combat on Earth. Jake is selected to participate in the Avatar program, which will enable him to walk. Jake travels to Pandora, a lush jungle-covered extraterrestrial moon filled with incredible life forms, some beautiful, many terrifying. Pandora is also home to the Navi, a sentient humanoid race, who are considered primitive, yet are more physically capable than humans. Standing three meters tall (approximately 10ft), with tails and sparkling blue skin, the Navi live in harmony with their unspoiled world. As humans encroach deeper into Pandora’s forests in search of valuable minerals, the Navi unleash their formidable warrior abilities to defend their threatened existence.
Jake has unwittingly been recruited to become part of this encroachment. Since humans are unable to breathe the air on Pandora, they have created genetically-bred human-Navi hybrids known as Avatars. The Avatars are living, breathing bodies that are controlled by a human “driver” through a technology that links the driver’s mind to their Avatar body. On Pandora, through his Avatar body, Jake can be whole once again. Sent deep into Pandora’s jungles as a scout for the soldiers that will follow, Jake encounters many of Pandora’s beauties and dangers. There he meets a young Navi female, Neytiri, whose beauty is matched only by her ferocity in battle.
Over time, Jake integrates himself into Na’vi’s clan, and begins to fall in love with Neytiri. As a result, Jake finds himself caught between the military-industrial forces of Earth, and the Navi, forcing him to choose sides in an epic battle that will decide the fate of an entire world.

Vishnu incarnate as Human, to solve the problems of Humans(Devotees)!! Whereas Shiva takes different kind of forms(avatars) to solve the problems of Deva’s (gods,demigods and asuras)!! Shiva and Vishnu forms are uncountable!! In Saiva Siddhanta tradition, 25 or 64 or 108 anthropomorphic (iconic) forms are highlighted. The 25 forms of Shiva are most significant. In ancient India, different groups came up with lists of 24 or 25 forms (probably due to competition). The Shaivas have 25 forms of Shiva, the Vaishnavas have 25 avatars of Vishnu, the Buddhists have 25 Buddhas, and the Jains have 24 Tirthankaras.
